![]() 5-Screw Variant: An extremely rare sub-variant of the North American release, with the white Nintendo Seal Of. If there is one, there are hundreds or thousands out there. Both versions are otherwise completely identical. I've personally never heard of this, ever. There would be hundreds if not thousands of these. They'd have to have a massive number of old outdated 5 screw carts to use to decide to use them instead of trash them. IN that case though there would be an entire run of them, not just a one or two cart situation. Perhaps there was one factory somewhere in the world that had some stock of old 5 screw cases they needed to use up or throw away a year after they were supposed to be used. Not saying it doesn't exist, just that I'd have to see one to believe it since it defies all production knowledge we know.Ĭouldn't be a factory error since those 5 screw carts were no longer in use for any game being made at any factory when Contra was produced. ![]() I imagine someone could take the board out of their broken cartridge and put it in a cheap gyromite cart or something to save their favorite game to keep playing it but nintendo officially stopped using 5 screw carts in '87 yet Contra was produced in '88.
